Friendliest cross platform multimedia formats?

I need to store and retrieve thousands of 30 second audio and video bites.

They'll be stored in SQLite3 blobs.

What are the friendliest formats for replay in Windows, Mac and iOS at the same time?

I would prefer H264 MP4 video, its small and works fluently and on just about any device.
For audio perhaps MP3 or Ogg, although AC3 is popular is don't see why.
