Access violation at address 40008f20 in module vcl50.bpl in
News Group: borland.public.delphi.ide.general

Hello,

After installing, trying and later on de-installing a component,
(could not use it) I get this error on closing D5:

Access violation at address 40008f20 in module vcl50.bpl
Read of address 042681CC.

It happens only on one project I was working on. If I load one of my
other projects, Delphi closes normally.

Another strange thing is that with this particular project, if I
deselect some design packages that I don't need, they are selected again
if I reopen this project.
On any of the other projects this does not happen.

(The project seems to run well when compiled)

Any ideas how to solve this

As unexpected as this Acces Violation appeared,
it has disappeared again.

Although the project was back in it's original state from before the AV,
it kept on producing this error on closing Delphi.

Out of a sudden it's gone!! without any change to the project.

The only thing that has happened within Delphi meanwhile is starting a
new project. Next time opening the AV causing one, Delphi closed normally.

May be there's some hidden autorepair function in Delphi??:-)

I forgot to add that before trying this component,
the project did not cause this acces violation.
In fact it is back in the old state, so may be there's a
trace left somewhere, causing this error.
Don't know where to look for.
