HI.
I have problem installing IB7.1 Trial on one machine.
Install went fine but cannot start server. If I start guardian service
manually, I get this error:

"The Interbase Guardian service on Local Computer started and then
stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do,
for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts Service."

If I start Interbase Server service manually, I get this error:

"Could not start the InterBase Server service on Local Computer. Error
1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a
timely fashion."

In Event Viewer: 
"The description for Event ID ( 212 ) in Source ( InterBase Guardian )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote
computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this
description; see Help and Support for details. The following
information is part of the event: The registry information is missing.
Please run the InterBase Configuration Utilitr thread. errno : 1053."

"The InterBase Server service failed to start due to the following
error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely
fashion.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp."

Any help?

OS: WinXP Pro
P4 2.4G
1G RAM

	You should have received a registration file in your email after you
downloaded the trial.  Did you follow the directions in the email
before attempting to start the server?  If not, rename borland.lic in
your IB home directory, follow the directions, and try again.

	If so, what do you see in the interbase.log file in your IB home
directory?

Try connecting to any local database via IBConsole. Does that work?
