hello! I installed interbase with Borland Developer Studio. When I start IB 
Console and klick on Local Server - gds_db I get the message Cannot start 
local interbase. What have I done wrong. greetings hans

I am not sure I understand your question. Running IB as an application
means that it runs like any other application. You have to start IB
each time you start your computer or else you have to add IB to the
Startup folder.

If you run IB as a Windows service it starts automatically each time
your computer starts. Is that what you are asking?

Thanks very much. Running it as an application worked immedeately and I 
wouldn´t have found out myself. Whats the difference between the two 
methods. By the way I know this should be sent to the install group but I 
didn't notice it before. mvh hans
